Speedy Reidy reigns at Thruxton in the Dickies British Supersport Championship

Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki’s Andy Reid proved he was back to full fight with a superb double race win in the Dickies British Supersport Championship at Thruxton, defeating his rivals in an incredible pair of races in Hampshire.

Tarran Mackenzie took the lead early doorsJames Westmoreland took pole position but it was Tarran Mackenzie who took the early lead with his Stauff Connect Academy Kawasaki ZX-6R. The super-fast, wide Thruxton track allowed these finely matched Supersport machines to play a high speed slipstreaming game.

Young racing hope Bradley Ray led for a while but Mackenzie forced back to the front and steadily pulled out a lead on the chasing pack. However Northern Irishman Reid overhauled the pair to take the lead on lap ten for a great victory.

Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki rider Reid took his second win of the weekend in the Dickies British Supersport Championship in the Feature race but Mackenzie claimed the Championship lead.
Mackenzie grabbed the holeshot in the second contest, but quickly found himself in a titanic battle for the lead with Reid, Mason Law and Ray.

Swapping paint throughout the 16 lap race, it was Reid who emerged victorious, his second of the weekend, ahead of Ray. Crossing the line at exactly the same time, Law and Mackenzie could not be separated and both initially took third place however following post-race technical checks, Law was excluded from the results.

Finishing in fourth place, Westmoreland lost the series lead, but is only one point behind Mackenzie.

“It’s been a really special weekend” said race winner Reid, “It’s four years to the day since my dad passed so I pushed for that win. We thought we would struggle a little this weekend but we had a great set up and we’re now only one point from the Championship lead! It feels great to be back on top.”Andy Reid on top of the podium having just claimed his second race win of the weekend
