Lohéac FRA – 3.9.16:  It is with huge disappointment that JRM Racing can confirm its retirement from the eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lohéac in France today.

The British team entered the event with Frenchman Guerlain Chicherit behind the wheel of its MINI RX Supercar and completed this morning’s two-hour Open Practice session in Brittany.

However, the team reluctantly took the decision to retire from the competition amid unforeseen technical concerns for its two-litre development engine.

As a result, JRM Racing missed this afternoon’s opening qualifying rounds and will take no further part in the Lohéac RX event – although the squad will remain in the paddock with its MINI RX Supercar on display.

Monster Energy Athlete Guerlain will also be on hand to meet the fans that have supported his World RX return with such enthusiasm in recent weeks.

“We’re bitterly disappointed that we’ve been forced out before qualifying started but unforeseen technical concerns have left us with no choice,” JRM Racing Team Principal, James Rumsey, explained. “We are reviewing the situation with our engine supplier.”

“Everyone at JRM worked tirelessly to make sure we were prepared for what is arguably the biggest weekend on the World RX calendar so to exit so early is tough to take.

“It’s especially disappointing for Guerlain because he was hugely fired up for this weekend and was determined to build on the success he had at Lohéac last season.

“We’re determined that this will be a short-lived set back and our focus has already switched to Barcelona in a couple of weeks where we are targeting a positive outcome with Guerlain and Guy Wilks in our cars.”

Guerlain and JRM Racing are determined to get back on track at the next round in BarcelonaGuerlain Chicherit said: “I’m super sad that we couldn’t race in front of my home fans this weekend. But this disappointment makes me even more determined for Barcelona RX.

“Rallycross is hugely exciting for me and I really want to show what I can do against some of the best drivers in the world. We’ll be back and ready to fight in Spain.”
