This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to implement and deliver change and thereby enjoy career development and progression.  The warehouse is currently spread over 2 sites and runs multiple shifts working from 06.00 on Monday until 21.00 on Friday with overtime worked on weekends, subject to need.

What are the job accountabilities?

  • You will plan, control, develop and lead a large warehouse team of around 90 staff, in order to achieve the Company customer service targets, while maintaining stock integrity and a safe working environment.
  • Maintain on time shipping.
  • Manage and initiate constant process improvements.
  • Management of a large team including a full 24 hour shift system.
  • Motivation and development of staff under their control.
  • Health and safety.
  • Management of all mechanical handling equipment.
  • Negotiation of shipping contracts and rates both for domestic and international shipping.
  • Physical inventory management.
  • Housekeeping and stock integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures and processes.
  • Help prepare annual budgets with the finance team.
  • Ensure good staff discipline and work with HR to ensure minimal issue relating to attendance, time keeping, individual productivity and general staff behaviour.

To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience

  • Flexible approach to work hours depending on time of year and work volumes. 
  • Strong people management and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Experience in operational warehouse environments at a managerial level.
  • Strong academic background (does not have to be degree level if there is good relevant experience) with good analytical skills.
  • Good decision making skills, even under pressure.
  • Can do approach.

Preferred Requirements

  • Good excel knowledge with ability to interpret data and present coherent strategies.
  • Experience in dealing with large numbers of staff on multiple shifts.
  • AEO and Customs Warehouse experience.
  • International shipping experience.
