JRM Racing take positives from World RX of Great Britain

Lydden Hill, GB – 29.5.16: JRM Racing has vowed to take the positives from a World RX of Great Britain event that came to an early conclusion at Lydden Hill today when driver Liam Doran was denied the chance to complete his bid for a place in the semi finals.

The all-British team hoped to make the top-12 cut off after a frustrating first day on home soil that was hampered by a puncture in Q1 and a loss of engine power in Q2. But Liam still battled to a brace of P4 finishes and scored some valuable qualifying points.

The Monster Energy Athlete then gave the JRM Racing team cause for optimism when he impressively finished his Q3 race in P2 earlier today (above). But his noble bid to make the semi finals was cut short in Q4 when his MINI RX stopped heading up the hill towards Devil’s Elbow.Unfortunately for Liam, his bid to make the semi finals in Q4 was cut short

It was a frustrating conclusion to the fourth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, but the team will still take a number of positives from only its ninth World RX event.

“This was the first round for our two-litre development engine, but luck wasn’t on our side this weekend,”Team Principal James Rumsey explained. “We know the car has heaps of potential in its new specification but we couldn’t show that on the track for various reasons.

“The boys are frustrated because we know the package we have put together can give us the extra step in performance we want after moving from the successful 1.6-litre engine. But we’ve gathered lots of invaluable data and insight that we’ll be using to hopefully give us a smoother passage at the next event in Norway.”

Liam said: “It’s been a mega frustrating weekend as I was obviously hoping for a lot more in front of my home fans. I really didn't get the chance to build any momentum during qualifying and that’s so crucial in World RX if you’re going to make it to the semi finals.

“The focus now turns to Norway and showing what the MINI RX can do in its new spec. The potential in the package is unreal and the JRM boys are working flat out – we just need a good run of luck so we can demonstrate the performance on track.”
