JRM Racing miss semi final slot at World RX of Sweden

JRM Racing was unable to take any further part in this weekend’s World RX of Sweden event after a brace of below par results in today’s Q3 and Q4 races put a top-12 qualification slot beyond the British squad’s reach.

The team’s #33 MINI RX Supercar held 12th place in the overnight intermediate standings after a strong showing in Q1 and Q2 yesterday. But both the team and driver Liam Doran were unable to build on yesterday’s promising start when the action got back underway at Holjes today.

Monster Energy Athlete, Liam, kicked the day off by completing his Q3 qualifying race in P3. But the ‘British Bomb’ was unable to progress any higher than P4 in his Q4 race that followed shortly afterwards. Both results didn’t return enough points to take him and JRM Racing through to the semi finals in Sweden.'The British Bomb' racing past the crowds at Holjes, unfortunately for Liam and the team, a semi final was just out of reach for them

“We had high hopes after yesterday’s qualifying rounds but, for some reason, that pace hasn’t translated into today’s races,”Team Principal James Rumsey explained. “We’re all hugely disappointed because we thought a third semi final appearance of the season was on the cards.

“The boys are now looking at the data that’s come off the car to see why we were unable to build on yesterday’s pace. It’s something we’ll get to the bottom of before we head to Canada next month.

“But there’s a lot of determination to get the most out of the MINI RX and we all firmly believe it’s a car that can, in time, be challenging for top points in World RX. We’ll continue working towards that goal by unlocking more of the performance that we know is in the car.”

Liam said: “I’m gutted that we didn't make it through – especially after things started so positively yesterday. I really thought we had enough speed to trouble the guys around us today but it wasn’t to be. I’ll sit down with the guys in the team to work out where we can improve for the next round.”
