Working closely with police forces, CamSAR respond to emergencies where vulnerable people have gone missing. On call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, they can be called out to any remote location in any weather.

This is where TNS and Dickies have stepped in. The two companies are donating rugged and hardwearing Dickies clothing to the team to help keep them warm, dry and protected during their searches.

CamSAR is a non-profit making organisation and as such rely entirely on fundraising and donations from companies such as TNS and Dickies.

The donation came about after one of CamSAR’s team called into the TNS store on Wisbech Road, Littleport, to buy dog food.

Sheila Collins, Search Controller for CamSAR, was very impressed with the quality and range of Dickies clothing available at TNS and this started the ball rolling.

Sheila explains: “We can be called out in all weathers, to all kinds of locations - having the right kind of clothing is essential for keeping warm and dry. The searches can sometimes go on for hours, or even days, and so it’s vital that our clothing is high quality, durable and weather proof.”

Sheila explained that in her role as Search Controller she co-ordinates resources and provides scenario based planning of the search, dividing the search area into high, medium and low probability sectors based on previous missing persons behaviour statistics.

Sheila added: “Being comfortable in your clothes is essential during the long searches and we are so impressed with the Dickies clothing.”

Richard Pipe, Parts & Service Director at TNS, explained why TNS chose to support CamSAR: “We were made aware that one of the CamSAR team had seen the range of Dickies clothing in our branch and was very impressed. As a charity CamSAR are manned entirely by volunteers and rely heavily on support by individuals and companies, such as ourselves.

“CamSAR have assisted in all the areas that our branches are located in and so it felt right to support such a worthwhile cause. It’s a pleasure to be able to help in this way.” More:/…
Paul Arnill, founder of CamSAR added: “It’s through generous donations like this that we are able to keep going. All of the team are volunteers and give their time freely to help people in their time of need, so keeping the team safe and providing the right equipment for them is very important.

“For example, we recently supported the Ambulance Service during the bad weather and our team members were willingly turning out during sub-zero temperatures to help. Having the right clothing is, therefore, essential for the safety and wellbeing of the team.”

“We are just so grateful to TNS and Dickies for their support – the trousers and jackets are fabulous.”

Dickies Regional Sales Manager, Carl Holder, summed it up: “Having the right people, doing the right thing, at the right time, goes a long way to getting the right outcome. If having good quality, robust, high performance clothing makes the team’s job easier, then that is reward enough.”
