Somerset ‘Dickies’ Rebels’ Speedway Riders Pick up the Prizes

At a special award ceremony marking the end of the 2011 season and acknowledging the skills and achievements of Speedway’s 'Somerset 'Dickies' Rebels' team members, young Australian Sam masters was voted by the Club's fans for the second successive year, as '2011 Rider of the Year'.

 

Alex Davies took the prize for ‘Most Entertaining Rider’

19 year old ‘Dare-Devil’ Alex Davies took the prize for ‘Most Entertaining Rider’ - an award title considered to be the most suitable for Davies in recognition of his ‘never say die’ approach to the sport, providing thrills and spills for delighted spectators throughout the season.

The presentations were made at the end of October, by Maurice Morton, Sales and Marketing Director for Williamson-Dickie Europe Limited, at the Club’s prestigious HQ, the Oaktree Arena in Highbridge, Somerset.

Other awards included one for Dakota North as ‘Most Improved Rider’, with Rebels’ skipper James Holder picking up the ‘Somerset Riders Equipment Fund’ (SREF) award as their ‘Team Man of the Year’, also for the successive year, whilst a special presentation was made to Rebel mascot, 10 year old Henry Atkins, in recognition of his victory in the inaugural British 125cc Championship.
