The UK’s leading workwear manufacturer Dickies has announced a record turnover of £35-million for 2007. This represents an increase of over 16% on the previous year. Dickies supplies a comprehensive range of garments and safety footwear through a network of over 4,000 outlets made up of major suppliers to the construction industry, agriculture, the automotive industry and leading independent builders’ merchants. Among the well-known names that stock Dickies workwear are Travis Perkins, Machine Mart, Screwfix and Wickes.

“Naturally we are delighted with these results,” says Maurice Morton, Sales and Marketing Director for Dickies (UK). “In recent years we have invested in our product range and also in improving how workwear is marketed, particularly in relation to in-store presentation. We believe the growth achieved in 2007 is a clear indication the investment is paying off.”

It has taken Dickies less than twenty years to achieve its predominant position in the UK. For it was only in 1989 that Dickies American parent company – workwear giant Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co – acquired the agricultural supplier Clares to gain a foothold in the UK market.

The company’s success is been built upon a philosophy of supplying tough, hardwearing workwear at affordable prices. Dickies utilises the best of traditional and new materials, designs and construction techniques to produce an extensive range that combines performance, comfort and value for money.

Suitable for almost every industry sector, the Dickies’ range includes work trousers and shirts, coveralls, jackets, bodywarmers, fleece jackets, high visibility garments, foul weather protection, flame retardant workwear and an extensive selection of safety footwear.
